Dodgers to get key part of rotation back on Saturday

The back end of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ rotation has struggled to begin the season. A much-needed reinforcement will reportedly return on Saturday.

Jack Harris of the California Post reported that the Dodgers are set to activate pitcher Blake Snell from the injured list on Saturday. His activation marks a change in the Dodgers plans as Snell was expected to make another start on his rehab assignment before being activated.

However, circumstances appear to have dictated otherwise. The back of the Dodgers rotation has struggled, while Tyler Glasnow left his most recent start after the first inning due to back spasms, necessitating a move.

If healthy, Blake Snell could make Los Angeles Dodgers even more dangerous

Roki Sasaki and Emmett Sheehan have disappointed thus far. Sasaki has posted a 5.97 ERA and a 1.674 WHIP over his 28.2 innings, while Sheehan has a 5.23 ERA and a 1.323 WHIP in his 31 innings. Justin Wrobleski appears to have transitioned well from the bullpen to a starting role, but his .222 batting average on balls in play against and 10.5% strikeout rate portend extreme regression.

Snell, if healthy, could be the difference-maker the Dodgers need. He posted a 2.35 ERA and a 1.255 WHIP over his 61.1 innings in 2025, striking out 72 batters with 26 walks. Snell threw 34 more innings in the postseason as he helped the Dodgers win Game 7 of the World Series, which led to the tired shoulder that sidelined him on the injured list.

That is, however, a big if. Snell has thrown over 130 innings only twice in his career, though he won the Cy Young Award both times. If he can remain healthy for the rest of the season, the Dodgers could have another ace in the rotation.
