For the third time in just nine years of existence, the Vegas Golden Knights are headed to the Stanley Cup Finals.
Captain Mark Stone opened the scoring for Vegas at home in the first period and Cole Smith added another with just under six minutes remaining in the third before Gabriel Landeskog gave the Colorado Avalanche a faint glimmer of hope with a goal 3:42 later. But the President’s Trophy-winning Avs were unable to find an equalizer and the Golden Knights completed the sweep.
The Golden Knights made the Finals in their first year as a club in 2017-18, losing to the Washington Capitals before winning it all in 2022-23. Now, they await the winner of Carolina and Montreal, with Game 4 of the Eastern Conference final set for Wednesday night with the Hurricanes up 2-1.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Whether it is Montreal or Carolina, the Golden Knights will at least have the advantage of winning experience in the Stanley Cup Final. With that being said, can you name the captain of every Stanley Cup winner since 2000?
