Legendary Washington running back John Riggins played his last down in 1985 and was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1992. But now, 41 years later, the Commanders will finally retire his No. 44 jersey during a ceremony before their game on Nov. 8.

After spending the first five seasons of his career with the New York Jets, he signed as a free agent with Washington ahead of the 1976 campaign. He’d spend the next nine seasons in the nation’s capital, where he would set still-standing franchise-records in carries (1,988), rushing yards (7,472) and touchdowns (79). He also dominated in their Super Bowl XVII victory over the Miami Dolphins, rumbling for 166 yards and a TD to win Super Bowl MVP.

Riggins missed the 1980 season due to a contract dispute, but returned to play another four years – leading the league in rushing touchdowns twice and recording the final two of his five-career 1,000-yard seasons in 1983 and 1984.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Not only does Riggins own most of the career-rushing records in Washington history, he can also claim the single-season rushing TD record as well with his 24 in 1983. With that being said, can you name the players to rush for the most TDs in one season for each NFL franchise?

    Good luck!
