Red Bull Racing staple Helmut Marko leaves at top of his game

Since 2005 (after taking over for Jaguar Racing), Red Bull Racing has been a staple in Formula 1, dominating the sport in the early 2010s and 2020s. All of Formula 1’s Drivers’ Championships from 2010-24 were won by Red Bull or Mercedes until McLaren and Lando Norris ended that streak.

Winners of eight World Drivers’ Championships — Sebastian Vettel (2010-13) and Max Verstappen (2021-24) — and six Constructors’ titles, Red Bull Racing has Helmut Marko to thank for bringing the talent worthy enough to compete with teams like Ferrari, Mercedes and McLaren over the course of his 20 years with the team.

Marko has announced he will be leaving his role with the team.

In a statement, Team Principal Laurent Mekies said Marko’s leaving would “leave a void, and we will truly miss him.”
