Twin sisters Malika and Khadijah Haqq are known for being close, but not this close. The actors/reality stars have seemingly placed themselves in the middle of an interesting debate after sharing an image of themselves kissing on the lips while celebrating their 43rd birthday.

While Malika and Khadijah’s joint celebratory Instagram post was likely meant to be a simple upload showcasing their bond and highlighting each other as they head into a new chapter, the photo has since taken on a life of its own, prompting many questions and some confusion.

Malika And Khadijah Haqq Stir Up Controversy After Sharing A Birthday Picture Of Themselves Kissing On The Lips

The two media personalities, known for their work in “ATL” and reality projects like “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” “The Kardashians,” and “Hollywood Divas,” have previously spoken about their unique bond as twins.

But some social media users are wondering if being that close is reason enough for their latest stunt. As seen in the picture above, the twins celebrated the big 4-3 in a way that was special to them. The two shared a peck on the lips, surrounded by white candles with a dreamy sunset and rolling hills in the background.

Adding to the drama, Khadijah placed her hands on Malika’s hips, while Malika gently placed her hands on Khadijah’s face.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY MALIKA,” Khadijah captioned the picture. “Thank you God for my twin Happy birthday D.” Malika shared a similar message, commenting, “Thank you God for my twin Happy birthday D.”

As expected, the picture sparked online discussion, with many social media users questioning its appropriateness.

“I just thought this was a lesbian couple who got engaged. My apologies,” someone wrote, while another shared, “Maybe for twins it’s different. But I ain’t nevaa kissing my sister on the lips.”

Another user wrote, “This picture is strange. But congratulations… happy birthday,” while a fourth added, “Wouldn’t kiss my twin on my sister on the lips but go off…”

Some users even wrote about their personal experience with twins.

“My mom a twin and never moved like this,” a netizen wrote, to which someone replied, “I am a twin and I would NEVA.”

‘This [Is] A Bit Too Much…’

The opinionated replies didn’t stop there. In response to Khadijah’s photo, other online users expressed their disapproval.

“Weird,” said one user, “I mean, I love my sisters too, but this [is] a bit too much,” said another.

One user went so far as to mention Tia Mowry in the comments, asking whether she’d consider recreating the photo with her sister, Tamera Mowry.

“I gave my twin my kidney, but a kiss on the mouth is going too far,” someone else replied.

Before Malika and Khadijah gained a following by appearing alongside the Kardashians on E! and Hulu, they made noise as Penny in the Disney feature film “Sky High.”

During a previous interview with E! News, the twin actresses recalled learning that the superhero flick about a teenage boy with a range of powers would be in theaters and what that did for their career.

“I remember being at the audition going, ‘Oh my God.’ You know, this is literally probably Khadijah and I’s only second audition for a movie in itself—and we had no idea. You don’t go into it knowing how big the project was. We actually thought the movie was going to go straight to the Disney Channel. Little did we know,” Malika said.

“And out of all of those options, we felt so blessed and overwhelmed to learn that, as we’ve been working our whole lives on like commercials and TV shows and stuff like that, that Sky High was going to be our first film. And not only that, it was going to be a much bigger project than what we had initially auditioned for,” she added.

Malika went on to say that, while the film was one of the first major projects they had worked on, they felt like naturals on set thanks to the veterans around them.

“The really good thing about a production this big is you don’t go directly into filming. We had weeks of training because we did gymnastics. We had to learn stunts. So you actually get to go into this environment, knowing that you have space and room to learn, and everyone is there to support you. And the good part is because the cast was so brand new, everybody kind of felt like they were doing the same thing,” Malika shared.
