Cowboys UDFA draws praise: ‘Physical wideout who holds his own’

The Dallas Cowboys are getting their ducks in a row ahead of the 2026 season, and while they put the focus on defense during the 2026 NFL Draft, they’ve also added strong offensive talent.

Sometimes, the most exciting rookies on a team weren’t even part of the draft. Undrafted free agents can also add energy and talent to a team, and that may be the case with one of the Cowboys’ newest wide receivers.

Dallas signed former SMU wide receiver Jordan Hudson as an undrafted free agent in April. It was a smart move, and Hudson is already getting praise amid the offseason.

In a feature for Bleacher Report, Gary Davenport reveals the “most exciting” undrafted free agent for each team. He names Hudson as a player to watch.

“Hudson had far and away the best season of his collegiate career last year at SMU — the 6-foot-1 191-pounder hauled in 61 catches for 766 and six touchdowns on the way to third-team All-ACC honors,” he notes in the piece. …

“Despite a lack of elite size or speed, Hudson is a physical wideout who holds his own in contested-catch situations. He also possesses plus hands.”

While Davenport notes that Hudson may be a “project” and take time to develop, he’ll be working under the great CeeDee Lamb and, perhaps, George Pickens.

The Cowboys have an elite quarterback in Dak Prescott, and one of the most important aspects of any signal-caller’s success is having solid offensive targets around him. Once Hudson gets acclimated, it’s not wild to think that he and Prescott could have some special moments on the field together this season. At the very least, he’ll add depth, which is always a good thing.
