Prince Harry‘s move to America now seems to be losing its shine amid failing ventures and the high cost of living.

According to reports, the former senior royal is not “really doing anything” after the initial success of his memoir, “Spare,” and joint documentary with his wife, Meghan Markle.

Prince Harry and Meghan are also said to be suffering under the weight of keeping up with an expensive American lifestyle, including the cost of maintaining an expensive mortgage.

More than half a decade has passed since Prince Harry moved to California with his wife, Meghan Markle, to establish a new life away from the royal family.

The move, as well as his bombshell memoir and a joint documentary with Meghan, has contributed to a deep estrangement from his brother, Prince William, and a very shaky relationship with his father.

Unfortunately, it now appears that whatever gold Harry had hoped to find in the land of the free has become a distant dream, seemingly reminiscent of the times he was sidelined as his brother’s “spare.”

“Harry’s not really doing anything in America,” a source told Page Six. “It seems he is still very wrapped up in the past. There have been rumors that Harry is starting a business, but he and Meghan don’t have the best track record.”

“He’s really great at service — look at the success of his Invictus charity. He really should just stick with that,” they added.

At first, things seemed to be on the upside for Harry and his wife following their move to America. They secured a deal with Spotify and another with Netflix, reportedly worth $100 million.

However, the Spotify deal has since ended, some might say in an acrimonious manner, given comments from insiders within the company.

Meanwhile, the Netflix deal, which was renewed but tweaked differently, has not produced projects with the same impact as the couple’s bombshell documentary that aired in 2022.

From the look of things, Netflix also appears to be losing patience with the couple, as Meghan’s “With Love, Meghan” was recently dropped after two seasons.

All of the money earned from these deals, as well as Harry’s memoir Spare, also appears to have been heavily eaten into by the high cost of the couple’s California lifestyle.

They are said to shell out between $2 million and $3 million annually on security, in addition to monthly payments on a $10 million mortgage, and the added burden of household and work-related staff salaries.

For now, even the couple’s Archewell Foundation, now renamed Archewell Philanthropies, appears to be going through a tough time.

At least five senior staff have quit the non-profit in recent years, namely Mandana Dayani, Rebecca Sananes, Fara Taylor, Ben Browning, and Bennett Levine.

Most recently, Executive Director James Holt left the organization, and the Sussexes also made the shocking move of downsizing 60 percent of the charity’s staff.

The huge exodus of staff has raised eyebrows, leaving many worried about the state of Harry and Meghan’s charity organization.

At the center of the downsizing of staff by the Sussexes appears to be financial issues, which some sources claim have led to serious discussions between Harry and Meghan about the charity’s future.

“The big question was, would Archewell close, or would another charity take it over?” shared an insider. “Harry and Meghan were looking to get a fiscal sponsor, someone to take on the outgoing costs and to keep things cheap.”

“Really, it’s all smoke and mirrors,” the source added.

Amid the situation, Harry secured a small win that could allow him to feel safer should he eventually choose to return home.

He recently became re-eligible for police protection while in the UK after RAVEC, the Royal and VIP Executive Committee, conducted a new risk assessment that led to the decision.

The development also increases the possibility that the former senior royal could bring along his wife and children, Archie and Lilibet, to the UK, following his earlier comments about their safety not being guaranteed.

A potential return date could be the one-year-to-go celebrations for the Invictus Games in July, although this has yet to be confirmed.

“It is far too early to say. No plans have been set yet,” an insider shared with Page Six about the possibility.
