    Update: Two people were killed and several others were injured in a shooting at the Seattle Center.

    A suspect has been taken into custody.

    Multiple people were injured in a shooting at the Bite of Seattle food festival at the Seattle Center in Washington state on Sunday evening.

    Five people were wounded. Their conditions are not known at this time.

    “Police are investigating a shooting. Multiple shooting victims. Shots fired at the Seattle Center. More information to come. Please avoid the area,” Seattle PD said on X.

    The shooting was near the Space Needle.

    Police evacuated the surrounding area.

    Witnesses who spoke to KOMO said they heard “7 or 8 shots” while they were at the Bite of Seattle.

    A child may be among the shooting victims.

    “The Bite of Seattle is the city’s annual food festival, celebrating 40 years of community, culture, and cuisine this year,” the Seattle Center says on its website.

    “The event, hosted at the Seattle Center, features over 300+ vendors, beer and wine gardens, cider tastings, local artisans, and over 65+ musical performers,” the Seattle Center said.

    “Locals, tourists, and people from all walks of life come out for three days of festivities featuring the best of Seattle’s culinary creations, entertainment, live cooking demonstrations, activities for kids, and much more,” they said.
