Some Hollywood icons can kiss winning an Emmy this year goodbye, and Sydney Sweeney is one of them.

Certain A-listers will not get to experience the thrill and tension of waiting on the results, as they did not bag any nominations for the upcoming coveted entertainment awards. The shows and actors who made the list are in high spirits as they await the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards scheduled for September 14.

Sydney Sweeney has been nominated twice for the awards during the 2022 Emmys but walked home empty-handed. She was in the running for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for “Euphoria” and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for “The White Lotus”

While it cannot be argued that Sweeney delivered a phenomenal portrayal of her character, Cassie, especially in the third and final season of “Euphoria,” she did not bag a nomination for the performance.

The actress has received several accolades and praise from viewers and fans of the HBO show since it aired. Her name has been in headlines even while controversy arose surrounding her character.

The TV personality’s name will continue to be in the limelight in the industry, not just with an Emmy for her jaw-dropping acting on “Euphoria” season 3. It comes as a surprise that she did not get nominated, as she snagged an Emmy nomination for her performance in season 2 of the show.

Sweeney’s shutout did not rub off on other stars of the hit show. Colman Domingo and Zendaya got their names on the list for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series and Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series. It should be noted that they already hold Awards for these categories.

Other Shocking 2026 Emmys Nomination Snubs Like Jeremy Allen White

The Emmys nomination list just showed some industry stars that they cannot get two comfortable. Jeremy Allen White, who got three consecutive Emmy nominations and two wins for his role in the critically acclaimed show, “The Bear,” would be warming the bench this year.

This may hit close to home as “The Bear” aired its farewell season this year. However, his co-star, Ayo Edebiri, got nominated for Best Actress in a comedy series.

Page Six detailed that the “Love Story” star,  who made headlines for playing John F. Kennedy, was also left out of the chance to add an Emmy to his shelf. While Paul Anthony Kelly did not make the cut, his co-star Sarah Pidgeon bagged a nomination, and the show got into the running for best limited or anthology series.

Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke is not an Emmy nominee this year either. Hawke is a major star and a Hollywood Veteran who delivered an applause-worthy performance in the FX series “The Lowdown”; however, he was snubbed, as the race is tight for leading actor in a comedy show.

The 2026 Emmys Not Feeling ‘Euphoria,’ And Other Hit Shows

While the Emmys understood the assignment with many expected nominations like “The Pitt,” “Widow’s Bay,” “Hacks,” and so on, some widely praised shows did not make the list for 2026 awards. Sweeney did not get nominated, and neither did “Euphoria” for Outstanding Drama Series.

Joining the list of HBO hit shows warming the bench is “Half Man,” which also got snubbed for Limited Series. UK’s financial drama “Industry” was shut out of the Emmys despite its widespread critical acclaim. The HBO show did not secure a single nomination across major categories and acting categories for the entertainers.

Netflix’s “Stranger Things” did not make the cut for Outstanding Drama Series, as reported by Deadline. CBS’s “The Amazing Race,” which has always been on the list for Outstanding Reality Competition Program, did not make the cut this year either.

Inside The Emmys Jaw-Dropping Snubs Of All Time

When certain shows or entertainers are overlooked time and time again, it raises dust that sometimes never settles. Over the years, there have been some industry stars that gave phenomenal TV performances, but never won a category or weren’t even given a chance to bag an award.

Looking back, a character that stood out was that of Steve Carell as Michael Gary Scott on “The Office.” Carell played the manager of Dunder Mifflin for nine seasons on the show.

Despite receiving six nominations, he has never won an Emmy. In 2011, his co-star, Rainn Wilson, wrote in a now-deleted post, “The world of TV should be ashamed of itself that Steve Carell never won an Emmy for Michael Gary Scott.”

The New York Post reported that “Black-ish” was nominated seven times and still never went home with a win. The sitcom’s producer, Anthony Anderson, was also nominated multiple times for an award but never won.

Another entertainer who does not have the plaque to their name is Hugh Laurie after playing Dr. Gregory House on “House, M.D” for eight seasons and six Emmy nominations. He lost in the Outstanding Lead Actor category and also as an executive producer when the show was up for Outstanding Drama Series.

Others include Courtney Cox, who was never nominated for her role on “Friends,” Charlie Hunnam in “Sons of Anarchy,” and Amy Poehler, who never secured a win despite six nominations for playing Leslie Knope in “Parks and Recreation.”

Sydney Sweeney Took An Early Bow Out From Last Year’s Emmys

Sweeney made an appearance at the Emmys last year but did not stay for the after-parties. The actress looked dashing in her red evening gown and even stepped on stage to present an award.

However, her interaction with her colleagues backstage was little to nothing, though she took time to take pictures with fans before leaving the event.

The “Housemaid” star later explained her unavoidable absence at the after-parties was due to an early morning filming commitment she had the next day. The Blast reported that there were speculations that she was given the cold shoulder at the Awards ceremony due to her political stance as a registered Republican.

Other views carried that she fell out with her fellow Hollywood stars due to an American Eagle Denim campaign she featured in. Sweeney was reportedly seen in multiple videos praising her “genes” as a pun for “jeans.” Ultimately, the ad was tagged as racist.

Will Sydney Sweeney and other entertainers still make an appearance at the Emmys despite receiving zero nominations?
