Steph Curry shares candid take on his retirement

The Golden State Warriors have missed Stephen Curry more than ever this season.

Despite being in his age-38 season, the four-time NBA champion is still as relevant and impactful as he’s ever been, and while that speaks volumes about the state of the roster, it’s also a testament to his greatness.

That’s why the team is poised for a long rebuild once he’s finally out the door.

However, GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. and Dub Nation can rest assured that he’s not going anywhere any time soon. In an interview with The Athletic, Curry admitted he’s not even close to being done yet.

Stephen Curry isn’t thinking about retirement yet

“I think your body is the first point of information,” Curry said. “When I’m out there on the court right now, I still get lost in the fun. It’s still my happy place. The competition, the camaraderie, the chasing something that matters — that still gets me going. And I don’t see that stopping anytime soon.”

Curry has struggled with injuries this season, just like when he first entered the league.

Even so, he’s averaged 27.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 4.5 three-pointers per game on 46.8 percent from the floor and 39.1 percent shooting from beyond the arc, according to Basketball Reference.

He may not be there for 23 years like LeBron James, but he’ll gladly continue to go through the physical beating it takes to be an elite NBA player for as long as he still has that competitive fire.
