The good news for the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night is they secured a massive two points in the standings with a 4-3 shootout win against the Ottawa Senators, putting them back in the second playoff position in the NHL’s Metropolitan Division. It came with a price.
Penguins captain Sidney Crosby leaves game with another lower-body injury
The price is that their captain, Sidney Crosby, exited the game with a lower-body injury early in the second period and did not return.
Penguins head coach Dan Muse did not have much of an update after the game, telling the assembled media the “lower-body” designation and that he had no other information.
Crosby initially left the game late in the first period following a fight for the puck along the boards and immediately went to the locker room. He briefly returned for one shift at the start of the second period before immediately going back to the locker room.
