Whether it translates into NFL success is a matter of debate, but there is probably no event at the NFL Scouting Combine that can impact a prospect’s draft stock as much as their 40-yard dash time. This is especially true for skill position players, including running backs.

That is probably good news for the running back class for the 2026 NFL Draft.

Three running backs ran sub-4.40 40s on Saturday, making this class what the NFL is calling the fastest group ever at the NFL combine.

Jeremiyah Love helps already strong draft stock with great 40-time

One of the big standouts from Saturday was Notre Dame‘s Jeremiyah Love, as he posted the second-fastest time among the running back group at 4.36.

That came in just behind Mike Washington Jr (Arkansas), who paced all of the running backs at 4.33 in his run.
