The Houston Rockets picked up a thrilling 123-122 win over the Miami Heat on Saturday night, thanks in part to a strong fourth quarter that saw them overcome a nine-point deficit when it began. It was a huge win for the team. It was also a significant night individually for Kevin Durant.
Kevin Durant moves ahead of Michael Jordan on NBA all-time scoring list
With his team-leading 27 points, Durant officially moved ahead of Michael Jordan for the fifth spot on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.
As of Saturday, the only players in NBA history who have tallied more points than Durant are LeBron James (43,229 and counting), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387), Karl Malone (36,928) and Kobe Bryant (33,643).
Any time a player passes Jordan in anything and puts themselves on a tier with the four players mentioned above, it is a significant accomplishment and a huge deal.
