Joe Burrow hints how he’ll handle Myles Garrett’s sack pursuit

If Cleveland Browns star pass-rusher Myles Garrett wants to break the NFL’s single-season sack record on Sunday, he will have to bring down Joe Burrow at least once. Burrow, it seems, will not be using any special tactics to try to prevent him from getting it.

Burrow was asked about Garrett’s pursuit of the sack record on Wednesday, and the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback made it clear that it will not play into his thinking about how he approaches the game. In fact, he even said if he has to take a sack for the good of the team, he will do it.

“I’m not going to overcompensate either way,” Burrow said. “I’m not going to go out of my way to not let him get the record and I’m not going to go out of my way to let him get the record, either. I’m going to go and play football.

“There’s going to be situations where a sack is the best of the bad outcomes of that play and maybe I take one. There’s gonna be other situations that I’m about to get sacked and I need to throw it away in that situation. It’s such a situational game that I don’t think you can go in thinking one way or the other every play.”
