Fever coach shares major Caitlin Clark injury update

The Indiana Fever couldn’t get the job done in Saturday’s 107-104 loss to Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings.

However, the fans were left more worried than bothered by the result, given that Caitlin Clark had to leave the court twice with an apparent injury. Clark returned both times, but given how much she struggled with injuries last season, Fever fans still sounded the alarm.

Apparently, it was nothing major. She just had to have her back adjusted.

Caitlin Clark’s back injury is minor, but it will linger

“It gets out of line pretty quickly,” Clark said postgame, per ESPN. “So just that, just getting my back put back in place a little bit. But other than that, feel great.”

While the injury is minor, Fever coach Stephanie White candidly admitted that these quick absences will continue for the time being.

“She has adjusted her body. When we’re all really young, we don’t learn proper mechanics and then it doesn’t get exposed until something happens,” White said. “Hip alignment gets off. Rib alignment gets off and it’s part of being a professional athlete. Nothing outside of that,” she added.

The coach also shared that they wouldn’t have played her heavy minutes in the loss if she weren’t fully healthy. She also said these back adjustments might not be just for Clark but for all Fever players who need to “get adjusted and make sure that the body’s working.”

Clark finished the game with 20 points on 18 shots, adding five rebounds, seven assists and two three-pointers in 31 minutes. The Fever will get some days off to get back to full strength before visiting the Los Angeles Sparks on May 13.
