Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens is in the final weeks of his contract, but he recently made it known he could be willing to work out “the ultimate best deal when it helps everybody” to stay with the organization through at least the 2026 season.

Previously, the Cowboys and No. 1 receiver CeeDee Lamb put pen to paper on a four-year, $136M deal in August 2024. On Wednesday, Lamb spoke about how he would feel if he found himself making less money than Pickens in a scenario that involved Pickens staying with Dallas.

CeeDee Lamb won’t let ego stop Cowboys from keeping George Pickens

“I don’t care about that,” Lamb insisted, per Tommy Yarrish of the Cowboys’ website. “I just want my man to get what he deserves. As for me, I know I’m good. I’m fine. Me and my family, we’re straight, and I just want to compete at the highest level, and I want to compete for a ring.”

Quarterback Dak Prescott is also among the Cowboys players who have publicly campaigned for team owner and general manager Jerry Jones to get a deal done with Pickens this winter. However, a recent report shared that “the Cowboys have not held any contract talks with Pickens’ agent.” That story reiterated that Dallas could retain Pickens’ rights via the franchise tag projected to be worth around $28.8M as early as Feb. 17.

Pickens caused some headaches for the Cowboys this past fall. That said, ESPN stats show that he ended the regular season ranked third in the league with 1,429 receiving yards, eighth with 93 receptions and tied for eighth with nine touchdown catches. Such production has Lamb wanting the best for his teammate.

“The money will come if you play good, so just play good and let everything else take care of itself,” Lamb added. “As for GP, he’s well deserving. He deserves every penny that he gets. And if he gets more than me, I’m going to congratulate him on that.”

Pickens suggested he is “willing to do anything” to stay with the Cowboys. It’s unknown if that “anything” involves participating in Dallas’ offseason program while on the franchise tag.
