Things aren’t looking much better for former Nickelodeon star Tylor Chase. After a heartbreaking TikTok video of the “Ned’s Declassified” alum went viral, fans and celebrities alike have reached out to offer help, including Daniel Curtis Lee, Chase’s former co-star. The actor recently traveled nearly an hour outside the Los Angeles area to meet with Chase and secure the 36-year-old a motel room just before the holidays. However, after leaving Chase alone, Lee shared that he had received a phone call from the motel manager, who said Chase had allegedly left the room wrecked. This all comes after Chase’s father, Joseph Mendez Jr., claimed Chase suffers from bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

In a video shared online, Lee gave those interested in Chase’s story a somber update. “The hotel situation; we got Tylor shelter. Hooray,” he said. But hours after checking Chase into his new room, Lee said he received a call from the property’s manager. “They’re upset,” he shared. “The door is left open. Why is there a microwave in the tub? The refrigerator is turned over.” As Lee continued, he admitted he was “devastated” to hear about Chase so soon after leaving him.

Elsewhere in the video, Lee expressed his frustration not with Chase, but with the “system” as a whole. Specifically, Lee questioned how there could be so many “social systems” in place where “help” should be offered to those experiencing a mental health crisis or struggling with substance abuse, but they’re not being used effectively. “I’m just crushed,” he said. “They’re not quality systems.”

Since the video of Chase looking disheveled in the streets of Riverside, CA, went viral, his father, Mendez Jr., spoke with a publication about his son, calling him a “wonderful person” when he’s himself. When he’s abusing substances, however, Mendez suggested that it’s a different story.

“For over a decade, the family has sought treatment options for Tylor, including support for substance use as well as mental health care,” he said.

According to Mendez, his family attempted to help Chase by putting him in a rehab facility in 2021, but he refused to go. “He [Chase] later chose to discontinue medication and resumed substance use,” Mendez added.

Devon Werkheiser Seemed Disturbed By The Viral Video Of His ‘Ned’s Declassified’ Co-Star

Lee isn’t the only former co-star to speak out after seeing the distressing video of Chase online. Devon Werkheiser, who played the lead in “Ned’s Declassified,” called it “heartbreaking to see him this way” during an interview with TMZ.

While he said he hadn’t seen his former co-star in nearly 20 years since the show ended in 2007, he acknowledged how much of a challenge it is to help those struggling with addiction. “Anyone who has dealt with severe addiction and deep mental health issues knows it’s an unbelievably challenging situation if they don’t want help,” he said.

At another point in the episode, Werkheiser revealed that he was hoping the exposure would help Chase rather than hurt him. “My only hope is that from this exposure, someone with real understanding and resources can step in, get Tylor into treatment, and help him get back on track,” he said.

Other Child Stars Have Offered A Helping Hand To Chase Amid Deeply Personal Struggles

On Instagram, “Mighty Ducks” star Shaun Weiss also offered a helping hand to Chase, sharing that he connected with his contacts, got the actor a bed at a detox center, and set up “long-term treatment” for Chase should he want it.

Online, fans have been reacting to the support from Chase’s co-stars and industry peers. In one comment, a user wrote, “I’m happy that they are trying to help & support him.” Another user wrote, “Daniel, please don’t give up on him, whatever you do!”

Others echoed similar statements as Chase’s father and “Ned’s” co-star, writing, “You can’t help everyone. That man needs professional help, and you aren’t a professional.” A second user added,” I don’t think he wants help, sadly.”
