Tyler Reddick wins at COTA, makes NASCAR history

Tyler Reddick won Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series DuraMax Grand at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, becoming the first driver in NASCAR history to open a season with three straight victories.

Reddick held off road course ace Shane van Gisbergen over the race’s final 17-lap green flag run to earn his second win at COTA and the 11th of his Cup Series career. 2026 is now tied with 2022 and 2024 as the winningest years of Reddick’s career.

“Means the world,” Reddick told Fox Sports. “It’s so fitting. We get going at the end there, and I’m leading, and there’s SVG. To be able to outlast him there and hold on for the win is incredible.”

Reddick won Sunday’s race from the pole and did so with 23XI Racing co-owner Michael Jordan in attendance.

“It’s time for change,” Jordan told Fox Sports. “Tyler came in with the most pressure. He had the chance to win three in a row. That’s the hardest one to win. The guys put together a great car. I’m proud of the team we put together.”

Jordan confirmed he will be at Phoenix Raceway March 8 to watch Reddick race for a fourth straight win.

Van Gisbergen is still yet to win at COTA and came up one spot shy of tying a record held by Jeff Gordon for the most consecutive road course wins with six.

Reddick held off van Gisbergen, who was big in his mirror, for the first half of the race’s final run before pulling away in the closing laps. He’s the first Cup Series driver to win three straight races since Christopher Bell won at Atlanta, COTA and Phoenix early in the 2025 season.

    Notable results

Van Gisbergen, Bell, Stage 2 winner Ty Gibbs and Michael McDowell rounded out the top five, with Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney, AJ Allmendinger and Denny Hamlin completing the top 10.

Other notable finishers include Bubba Wallace in 11th, Kyle Busch in 12th, Connor Zilisch in 14th, Brad Keselowski in 20th and Stage 1 winner Ross Chastain in 35th.

Alex Bowman finished 36th after he exited his car late in the race. Bowman was not feeling well for the majority of the race and had relief driver Myatt Snider finish the race. Chase Briscoe ran up front and led laps early before a mechanical issue relegated him to a last-place finish (37th).
