Tua Tagovailoa makes admission about his future with Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins might run it back with HC Mike McDaniel.

However, with a new general manager in town and after the way he played this season, that might not be the case with QB Tua Tagovailoa. That being said, it seems like the former Alabama star wouldn’t mind taking his talents somewhere else, either. According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Tagovailoa would be more than willing to get a clean slate.

Tua Tagovailoa wants a fresh start

“Asked if he is hoping for a fresh start, Tua said: ‘that would be dope.  I would be good with it,'” Jackson wrote on X. “The 3 of us who asked him made sure he knew that we meant elsewhere. Very politely declined to speak beyond.”

Tagovailoa made some incendiary comments during the season. From calling out his teammates and the leadership and stating that he didn’t care about the turnovers because he would still get to go home to his kids, he might not be the most popular guy in the building right now.

Then again, moving on from him will be way easier said than done. He’s owed $54 million, and the Dolphins would have to absorb a $99.2 million dead cap hit with a release.

Add his subpar physical traits, history of concussions and recent performance to the mix, and finding a taker will be an uphill quest. He finished the season with 2,660 yards, 20 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in 14 games before losing his starting spot to rookie Quinn Ewers.
