John Schneider‘s ex-wife, Elvira Castle, has filed a new court document claiming he owes her millions in spousal support following their divorce in 2019.

The former couple has previously been involved in a legal standoff that resulted in the actor sleeping in jail for not paying her spousal support.

John Schneider previously opened up about dealing with love and grief, revealing that he writes a “daily letter to heaven” to his late partner, Alice Allain.

It seems like the last hasn’t been heard on the enduring legal battle between “Dukes of Hazzard” star John Schneider and his second ex-wife, Elvira “Elly” Castle.

In new court filings obtained by TMZ, she claims he hasn’t paid her spousal support for some years now, and the debt has amounted to a whopping $2.3 million.

She added that the mountain of debt includes more than $900k in accrued interest, and she’s not willing to let go.

Schneider and Castle got married in 1993 and stayed together until 2014, when she filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.

Schneider and his former wife, Castle, reached a settlement in August 2019 when he was ordered to pay her around $25,000 per month in spousal support.

Now, Castle appears bent on recovering every dime as she has reportedly asked the court to give her some amount of money out of Schneider’s Screen Actors Guild pension.

Schnieder’s ex-wife has also asked for a cut of his Social Security if the actor can’t pay the alleged debt.

The former couple shares a biological daughter, Karis, as well as daughters Mandy and Leah, and son Chasen, whom Castle had from a previous relationship.

He tied the knot with his first wife, Tawny Little, in 1983, but they split in 1986.

This isn’t Schneider’s first run-in with the court regarding his divorce settlement with Castle. Back in 2020, she accused him of failing to pay spousal support that amounted to a million dollars.

At the time, she noted that he made $172,000 per month and didn’t expect him to pay the amount in full, but asked that she be given a portion of his payroll from “30 different studios and production companies.”

According to TMZ, Schneider was sentenced to three days in Los Angeles County jail in 2018 for failing to pay over $150,000 in alimony to her.

However, he was released after a few hours due to jail overcrowding. In addition to jail time, he was also ordered to complete 240 hours of community service and complete a long list of financial obligations.

The Actor Opened Up About The Death Of His Ex-Partner, Alice Allain

Amid his legal battle with Castle, Schneider remarried his long-time girlfriend, Alicia Allain, in a private 2019 ceremony. However, it wasn’t legal at the time, as he was still mixed up in his issue with Castle.

Allain unfortunately died from breast cancer at age 53 in February 2023, leaving the actor shattered in pain.

Reflecting on the love they once shared, he said he felt grateful that he got to do it with her while also revealing several plans they’d hoped to see come to fruition.

“I miss every damn thing, every day,” he said, per People Magazine. “I have to get to the point where I look around and see where she is, not where she’s not. And I’m trying to do that, but that’s hard. Somehow I love her more every minute, but with that, somehow I miss her more every minute.”

At the time, the “Smallville” actor shared that they decided to get married “after her diagnosis, not before,” which seemingly spoke to how inseparable and in love they were.

“The TTB, the Team to Beat, was like, ‘Hell no, cancer. You’re not splitting this up. We’re going to make it harder for you,’” he added.

Meanwhile, Schneider has since found love again after marrying his wife, Dee Dee Sorvino, following the death of Allain.

Back in 2024, he spoke about meeting someone new during an episode of “Grace Begins: The Podcast.”

At the time, Schneider told hosts Cathy Cardenas and Catherine Sutherland that he wasn’t looking for a new relationship after Allain’s death and honestly “didn’t want it,” but things seemingly changed.

“God sent a widower to a widow and a widow to a widower who [gets] it, who understands,” he said. “Because I tell you what, I was ready to give it up, all of it—everything.”

“Then just when I thought the very notion of dating or holding another hand was repulsive, I met this one, that crazy dame over there,” he added, pointing to her on the show, but she wasn’t shown or named.

“I was done,” Schneider said about his emotional state before meeting her. “And if that hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t have been here, there’s not a chance in the world.”
