Jaime King Claims Second Divorce ‘Came Out Of Nowhere’

Jaime King did not see her second marriage ending abruptly, at least that is what she is saying.

The actress has broken her silence on the divorce filing, noting that she was completely caught off guard by her estranged husband as they were working on their relationship before now.

Jaime King and her estranged beau, Austin Sosa, got engaged last July and took things a step further with a secret wedding, which only became public knowledge due to the latest divorce filing.

The 46-year-old clarified some hidden truth behind her estranged husband’s decision to dissolve their marriage, insisting that she was completely unaware of such a crucial step. She expressed in a statement on Friday night that she was still with Sosa the night before the filing became public.

King did not deny that they had issues, but she genuinely believed they were working on the crooked lines in their relationship. The actress then addressed the second part of her life, which is the rumor that has romantically linked her to hotelier Vikram Chatwal.

King stated, according to US Magazine, that “any recent interactions being referenced publicly were strictly professional business meetings and have no connections to this private matter.”

The star added that her focus remains on her children and career, as she urged everyone to respect the privacy of the ongoing matter and stop making unhealthy assumptions “particularly ones that unfairly and disproportionately scrutinize women simply for doing their jobs.”

The Blast reported that rumors about a possible romance between King and Chatwal began to circulate in early January when they stepped out in his Bombay Palace Restaurant.

They had earlier been spotted at Chateau Marmont a week before, further fueling these reports. Like King, Chatwal is also a divorcee who ended his marriage to Priya Sachdev in 2011 after a costly wedding in 2006, which made history by gulping $20 million.

He has since been linked to two women, including Spanish model Esther Cañadas and Padma Lakshmi. As for King, she divorced her first husband, Kyle Newman, three years ago and was stuck in a contentious custody battle with him.

The banker had reportedly proposed to the actress in June 2025, although no details of the proposal had surfaced, and King was excited about the development.

When news circulated that she found love again after her divorce from Newman, King confirmed the reports, and her representative added that the moment felt even more special with her kids by her side, who have also bonded with Austin and his family.

The actress herself reportedly built a close friendship with her now ex’s family as she reportedly lived in their home for a while after she moved out of her Los Angeles apartment in 2025.

As shared by PEOPLE, Sosa is a proud Brigham Young University alum whose experience has spanned several banking sectors, with his foundation as a private equity associate in 2016. Currently, King’s ex works as an LA-based investor and has been in the role since August 2023.

He revealed to Heather McDonald on her “Juicy Scoop with Heather McDonald” podcast that they met through a mutual friend, and they both decided it was best to keep their romance under wraps. 

The duo eventually broke their silence after getting engaged by mentioning him in a joint Instagram post of the actress and her kids, where she raved about how lucky she is to be a mother to her two sons. Newman and King are parents to two adorable sons, James and Leo, who she currently has supervised access to.
