During a recent episode of his podcast, Dax Shepard shared a candid parenting moment that quickly sparked conversation.

Discussing his youngest daughter’s dreams of motherhood, the actor explained how an innocent family talk led to a surprising promise about her future.

His reflections blended humor, privilege, and protectiveness, revealing how he approaches big life questions while trying to remain as supportive as possible.

The 51-year-old actor and “Armchair Expert” podcast host was speaking about life at home with wife Kristen Bell and their two daughters, Delta and Lincoln, when the conversation turned unexpectedly serious.

According to Shepard, his youngest child has already formed a clear vision of her future, one that centers on becoming a parent. He recalled, per the Daily Mail, “Delty was saying how she can’t wait to have a baby.”

The comment did not strike him as a passing childhood thought. Instead, Shepard suggested it reflected Delta’s nurturing personality, something the family sees daily. He painted a vivid picture of their household, explaining, “For people who don’t know, our life is a traveling circus of Delty’s stuffies. The bulk of our luggage as a family are her stuffies.”

A Careful Conversation About Timing And Choice

When Delta first raised the topic, Shepard said he was mindful of how he responded. Rather than shutting down the idea or steering it away, he wanted to keep the conversation open and judgment-free. He explained his thought process by sharing, “She’s saying she wants to have a baby, and I said, ‘When do you think you’ll have your first child? When you turn 18?” I want to be supportive of whatever.”

The doting dad added, “I don’t want to plant any seeds that I’d be judgmental or whatever.”

That approach allowed his daughter to think more broadly about her future, including the possibility of waiting until later in life.

As the discussion evolved, Shepard said Delta didn’t envision becoming a mother as early as he had jokingly suggested. Instead, she leaned toward having children much later, somewhere between her mid-30s and mid-40s.

That realization prompted Shepard to float an option he felt could relieve future pressure. He revealed, “I said, ‘If you want to, we’ll freeze your eggs when you’re 18. I’ll pay for you to get your eggs frozen so you don’t have to think about that.”‘

The idea, he explained, was rooted in flexibility rather than expectation.

Shepard was quick to acknowledge the realities surrounding such a decision.

He told listeners, “Acknowledging all luck and privilege, obviously, this isn’t an option for most people. But I think given where it’s, the trajectory it would make the most sense.”

He added, “I think they’re going to be wrestling with the same thing every woman is. You’re gonna want to do your career.”

Despite the logic, Delta was unimpressed by the proposed timeline. Shepard laughed as he admitted, “Again, she’s 11 so that probably seems like 80. She’s thinking mid-20s.”

The exchange underscored how even serious conversations remain grounded in humor, honesty, and mutual respect.

Cher Takes Playful Aim At Dax Shepard While Praising Kristen Bell

Shepard’s admissions about his daughter came a few days after Cher created a viral moment during her appearance on his podcast. During her appearance, the legendary actress addressed Shepard’s marriage to Bell with unapologetic honesty.

As Shepard reflected on how his past trauma influences his communication style, Cher cut through the introspection with a blunt assessment that immediately shifted the tone of the conversation. Looking directly at him, she said, “You’re lucky. She is definitely the better half,” leaving no doubt about where her admiration lay.

The comment landed harder because of Cher’s long-standing friendship with Bell, whom she starred alongside in the 2010 film “Burlesque.”

Rather than bristle, Shepard eventually leaned into the moment, openly acknowledging the implication behind the remark. He asked her, “Who would be your dream partner for her? Cause I know you think she could do better, and I don’t disagree.” However, Cher didn’t offer an alternative match, though her closing line delivered a perfectly measured mix of humor and judgment.

With calm confidence, she replied, “The truth is, I trust her. So you must have something that I don’t see.”

The exchange struck a balance between playful roasting and genuine respect, turning a casual podcast chat into one of the most talked-about celebrity moments of the week.
