Heyward seems to confirm Rodgers has made Steelers decision

Whether or not quarterback Aaron Rodgers will return to the Pittsburgh Steelers and when he will make his intentions public have been two of the most discussed stories of the NFL offseason.

During the latest edition of his “Not Just Football” podcast, longtime Steelers defensive lineman Cameron Heyward seemed to break some news while telling Pittsburgh fans to r-e-l-a-x amid questions about Rodgers’ whereabouts.

Cameron Heyward seems to know what Aaron Rodgers plans to do

“Bro, chill out. He’ll get there when he gets there,” Heyward said about Rodgers, per Alex Kozora of Steelers Depot. “It’s the middle of summer. If anyone knows the system better than anybody, it’s Aaron. And he’s not a big proponent into having this long training. I think he trains well on his own. He knows what his body needs at this point.”

Heyward seemingly was referencing how Rodgers played under current Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy when the two were with the Green Bay Packers from 2006 through much of the 2018 season. Meanwhile, Heyward has made it known on multiple occasions this year that he wants Rodgers to run it back with the Steelers for one more campaign.

A previous report said that Pittsburgh players are “fully counting” on Rodgers to re-sign with the team. Heyward’s latest comments may show that’s truly the case.

Did Cameron Heyward recently hang out with Aaron Rodgers?

Stories claiming that Rodgers was in Pittsburgh at some point from May 8 through May 11 sparked all kinds of discussions on local sports talk programs. There was even speculation that Rodgers returned to the Steel City to celebrate Heyward’s 37th birthday.

“We’re grown men,” Heyward said. “We’re not celebrating birthdays together. I didn’t even have a birthday party. My agent’s calling me saying there’s multiple reports saying, ‘Is he hanging out with Cam?'”

It was suggested earlier this week that McCarthy “knows” when Rodgers will show up for work. As of Friday morning, outsiders were still guessing whether or not the 42-year-old will re-sign with Pittsburgh before the start of OTAs this coming Monday, before the team’s mandatory minicamp begins on June 2, or sometime in between.

According to Heyward, everyone should chill out and let Rodgers rejoin the Steelers on his own time.
