Giants could land former NFL head coach as their new OC

John Harbaugh has a big choice to make as he decides on the New York Giants’ next offensive coordinator. He may be able to land a former head coach to do the job for him.

Former Arizona Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury is “expected to be in the mix” for the Giants’ offensive coordinator job, according to Jordan Ranaan of ESPN. The Giants also considered Kingsbury in their head coach search before going with Harbaugh.

The Giants will likely be attracted to the success Kingsbury had in Washington with Jayden Daniels in 2024. Kingsbury helped turn Daniels into a rising star, and the quarterback was thought to be unhappy with his offensive coordinator’s departure. With Jaxson Dart in the fold, the Giants will want an offense coordinator who can deliver similar results.

Kingsbury and the Commanders parted ways at the end of the season, but he has yet to find a new job. He got looks from a few teams as a head coach candidate, but never seemed to be among the finalists for any of those positions.

Kingsbury went 28-37-1 as a head coach with Arizona from 2019 to 2022. His record with quarterbacks is better than that, though, and Dart may be his next project.
