“Watch What Happens Live” host and executive producer of the “Real Housewives” franchise, Andy Cohen, is opening up like never before. During his appearance on a new episode of Alex Cooper’s wildly successful podcast, “Call Her Daddy,” the father of two got candid about his personal life, from his work to his surprising, thriving relationship with rock singer John Mayer.

Andy Cohen Gets Real About His Overly ‘Physical’ Relationship With Rock Singer John Mayer

Speaking with Cooper on the most recent episode of “Call Her Daddy,” Cohen explained what a typical night out with Mayer looks like, saying that at dinner they “always sit on the same side of the booth.”

“We sit next to each other, always,” he said, later calling it “our spot.”

As the night progresses, Cohen, 57, revealed he usually ends up “sinking into” Mayer, who typically has “his arm around me.”

According to Cohen, things between him and Mayer get “so physical” during one of their recent outings, with Cohen using parts of Mayer’s body “to tell a story about a guy.”

“I was in my cups a little bit. We were in a puddle of laughter,” Cohen admitted before saying he hopes to find a romantic partner that embodies the things he loves about Mayer.

“If I could find a gay guy that was him, it would be magic,” he said, later explaining how “grateful” he is for “the love that we have.”

Cohen’s revelation isn’t surprising to any of his most loyal supporters, considering the “Real Housewives” host previously clapped back at rumors suggesting his relationship with Mayer was anything more than platonic.

“Let them speculate,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in 2024, boasting about the intense “love” the two men have for one another.

He also addressed the questions they receive as friends, saying, “… because we are so affectionate to each other, people don’t know what box to put that in. They assume we are sleeping with each other, which we are most definitely not.”

In a deeply personal letter penned by Cohen for Entertainment Weekly, the “Radio Andy” host called his bond with Mayer an “unlikely friendship.”

“He’s one of our greatest living guitarists, and I’m regarded as the dude [who] stirs the sh-t on late night TV,” he wrote.

“We do have one thing that bonds us: our love of the Grateful Dead. So when the band did five shows this summer—their last ever—we used their Santa Clara, Calif., gigs as an excuse to take a road trip and bro it up,” he added.

Following Cohen’s interview with THR, in which he discussed the specifics of his bond with Mayer, the “Last Train Home” performer shared a passionate response, slamming the interviewer for their “line of questioning.”

“People seem dubious that a straight rock star can have a close platonic relationship with a gay TV personality,” Mayer wrote. “I think this is somewhat of a specious premise. First, there is a long and storied history of “rock stars” (not mocking, just won’t refer to myself as one) befriending gay icons and artists.”

Mayer continued, acknowledging that he can, in fact, have a personal and platonic relationship with a man such as Cohen.

“I’d like to think they’re sophisticated enough to see a relationship like ours without assuming it must include a sexual component. That turns the concept of being gay into an ignorantly two-dimensional one, which I know you know it’s not. I don’t question that at all,” he continued.

Elsewhere in his response, Mayer encouraged the interviewer at The Hollywood Reporter and the public to engage in “intelligent discourse” that could spark positive conversations.

“Quite simply, if someone is dubious of a platonic relationship between a straight man and a gay man, I don’t think that shallow a view deserves clarification by anyone with self respect, be it Andy or your publication. Reinforcing the idea that any gay/straight relationship needs qualification that it’s not sexual devoids everyone involved of their dignity,” he finished.
