The British high street continues to struggle in 2026, with a number of major retailers closing stores for good.
Rising costs, shoppers moving online and increases to National Insurance contributions and the minimum wage have meant several staples of the high street are suffering.
Pizzeria chain Franco Manca confirmed on Tuesday that they will push ahead with the closure of 16 of its restaurants, including nine in London.
The Standard has compiled a full list of announced upcoming closures in London in 2026.
Last month, parent firm The Fulham Shore said it planned to shut a number of Franco Manca sites as part of a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) process, which will also hit around 225 jobs.
Now the closures will go ahead after a restructuring plan was approved by creditors.

The pizza brand currently runs 70 restaurants prior to the closures but said it has been knocked by “disproportionately high” UK taxes and a lack of business rates relief for restaurants.
The affected restaurants were “no longer sustainable” as a result.

The banking giant is set to close 37 branches across the country over the coming months, with 13 of those in or around the capital.
Most of these closures are to take place in May and June this year, with other dates confirmed through February 2027.

Most will be replaced by banking hubs, allowing customers to use in-person services while significantly downsizing.
The bank is hoping to redeploy many of its workers to avoid job cuts when making the transition.

In February, Lloyds Banking Group, which includes Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland confirmed that 95 branches would close across the UK.
The banking group will still have 610 branches remaining after the closures, but 53 Lloyds, 31 Halifax, and 11 Bank of Scotland sites will shut.
The closures will all take place between May 2026 and March 2027 – with eight Lloyds and four Halifax branches in London shutting for good.

Shoe retailer Russell and Bromley went into administration earlier this year, and while no store closures have yet been announced, there are closing down sales at a number of their locations.
Next bought the business in January, but only secured three locations, with the future of the other 33 stores uncertain.
