Instead, their conversation turned deeply personal, with William opening up about Kate Middleton and King Charles‘ cancer battles, his family’s past good health, and the shock of recent diagnoses.

Prince William reflected on missing his late grandparents, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, while guiding Eugene Levy around Windsor on an e-scooter.

Levy has opened up about why he steered clear of bringing up Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during his highly anticipated sit-down with Prince William at Windsor Castle.

The 78-year-old Canadian comedian appeared alongside the Prince of Wales, 43, on the October 3 episode of “The Reluctant Traveler” on Apple TV+.

In a separate chat with ITV News released October 2, Levy explained that while no restrictions were placed on his line of questioning, he personally felt it wasn’t appropriate to raise the subject.

When asked whether he had been told to avoid the topic of William’s younger brother and sister-in-law, Levy clarified, “I was not told I couldn’t ask anything, but it wasn’t really, you know, up to me, to get into that. I had no interest in asking him about that, because it was, you know, very delicate issue and certainly not up to me to get into it.”

Instead, Levy said he preferred to steer their exchange in a more positive direction.

“I think there were other things, you know, I could lead the conversation to that might be interesting for him and interesting for the world to hear, but that was something I wasn’t necessarily interested in getting into,” he added.

In a separate interview, CNN royal correspondent Max Foster asked Levy if he was surprised by how personal the royal’s comments became.

“The tone was set in a way, wasn’t it, by Prince William turning up on a scooter?” Foster noted. “You go on this tour, but it does take this turn, I’m not sure if you expected it to go there. He talks about being overwhelmed by the family stress, and then you go deep. You talk about the Princess’s cancer diagnosis and how last year was the worst year of his life. Do you think he’s changed, coming out of that?”

Levy, who co-created and starred in “Schitt’s Creek,” responded: “It changes what’s kind of important and he seemed to truly indicate that it did kind of alter his way of thinking.”

Foster went on to highlight William’s pointed remark during their discussion, when he spoke about making “change.”

“But quite profoundly, he said, ‘Safe to say change is on my agenda,’ when you were talking about the future of the monarchy. What do you think he meant by that?” Foster asked.

Levy offered his interpretation: “My sense is that it may be speaking toward what will happen when he becomes King and what the tone of his monarchy will be like, and it might be something, the likes of something we haven’t seen.”

“The world hasn’t seen,” the actor added.

During his guest appearance on “The Reluctant Traveler,” William showed an unusually candid side.

In the episode, the 43-year-old heir to the throne opened up about his wife, Kate Middleton, and his father, King Charles, after their cancer diagnosis.

Reflecting on the contrast between the past and present, William noted that his family had long been fortunate when it came to health.

“We’ve been lucky,” he said. We “hadn’t had many illnesses in the family for a very long time.”

Pointing to the longevity of his late grandparents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, who both lived well into their nineties, he added, “My grandparents lived until they were in the high nineties. They were the vision of fitness and stoicism and resilience, if you like. So we’ve been very lucky as a family.”

That sense of stability, he admitted, shifted dramatically in recent months.

“You suddenly realize that the rug, if you were the metaphorical rug, can be pulled from under your feet quite quickly at any point,” he reflected.

During the episode, William also spoke tenderly about his late grandparents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

“Yes, I do miss my grandmother and my grandfather,” he admitted, reflecting on how much life has shifted since their passing. “It’s been quite a bit of change,” he said, adding that he often thinks about them “not being here anymore.”

The conversation unfolded as William guided Levy through Windsor on an e-scooter. Pointing out the Queen’s beloved surroundings, he noted, “She loved it here; she spent most of her time here. For me, Windsor is her.”

Determined to honor her memory, the Prince explained, “Showing you around today is very much a case of trying to make sure I’m doing it in the way she’d want you to see it. She had her horses here as well, as you can imagine, that was a big deal for her, so that’s why she loved it here.”
