The backlash over Timothée Chalamet‘s comments about performing arts continues, with Doja Cat joining the critics. The singer/rapper recently weighed in on the drama, sharing a since-deleted post condemning the “Dune” star’s actions.

Doja Cat’s disappointed reaction marked one of many, as many celebrities and those connected to the performing arts have slammed Timothée Chalamet.

Doja Cat shared her thoughts on Chalamet’s controversial comments about opera and ballet in a since-deleted TikTok post that was reshared on X. In the video, the “Woman” hitmaker donned a leopard print headband and a white tube bathrobe.

She filmed her reaction in her bathroom, starting off with a history lesson while hilariously failing to pronounce Chalamet’s name correctly.

“Hey, by the way, opera is 400 years old. Ballet is 500 years old. Somebody named Tim, Timothy Chalamet, had the nerve, big guy by the way, had the nerve to say on camera that nobody cares about it,” Doja Cat said.

The singer argued that Chalamet was wrong, believing one could enter an opera theatre right now and find all the seats had been sold out. Doja Cat noted that many still love performing arts, claiming one could find them staying silent during performances “because everybody has that much respect for it.”

Doja Cat continued raving about the beauty of performing arts, noting that there was a unique “etiquette” tied to opera and ballet. “It’s amazing. It’s an amazing theatre medium. It’s f-cking beautiful,” she said, noting that performing artists put their blood, sweat, and tears into their work.

“They love it. They love what they do. It doesn’t matter if the industry is having a tough time at any time,” Doja Cat continued, schooling Chalamet for saying people didn’t care about performing arts anymore. She added that every industry faced challenges down the line, but their audiences still cared.

Doja Cat ended the post with her advice for Chalamet, telling him to embrace the art of staying silent. “You show up in a nice outfit. You sit the f-ck down and shut the f-ck up. That’s the usual etiquette around those things. Maybe learn something from that,” she quipped.

Doja Cat’s comments received mixed reactions on X, with some critics wondering what gave her the right to slam Chalamet. However, their cries were drowned out by the outpouring of love and support from the entertainer’s fans.

“Doja Cat out here defending ballet & opera in a bath towel + leopard headband like it’s her 9-5. Timothée said, ‘No one cares,’ and she said, ‘Bet, hold my towel.’ Queen’s behavior,” a fan applauded the Popstar. Another agreed, noting Doja Cat’s argument was “completely right.”

A fellow supporter labeled Doja Cat “a cultured queen” for defending performing arts, while an X user echoed her advice to Chalamet. “He needs to learn more about the art instead of just talking!” the fan wrote. The sentiments continued, with someone claiming their respect for Doja Cat had “increased by 1000000%.”

Chalamet became the center of ridicule following the release of his CNN-Variety discussion about the future of the industry with actor Matthew McConaughey. The Blast covered the story, reporting that Chalamet had declared he wouldn’t want to work in the performing arts industry.

“I don’t want to be working in ballet or opera, or things where it’s like, ‘Hey, keep this thing alive.’ Even though it’s like, no one cares about this anymore,” Chalamet said. His words sparked backlash from performing arts lovers, including opera singer Isabel Leonard.

Leonard noted that she was “shocked” that someone as successful as Chalamet could be “so ineloquent and narrow-minded in his views about art.”

The Metropolitan Opera in New York City also fired back by sharing a TikTok post about the behind-the-scenes work and dedication that go into their performances.

Doja Cat’s take on Chalamet’s performing arts controversy isn’t the first time she has used her platform to slam a fellow celebrity. The Blast reported in July 2025 that the rapper had shared her reaction to Sydney Sweeney’s viral American Eagle ad.

The “Euphoria” actress had sparked backlash for the denim campaign over the line, “My genes are blue.” Many took offense at what some saw as brilliant wordplay, with Doja Cat joining the voices criticizing Sweeney on TikTok.

She mocked Sweeney’s accent while repeating everything she said during the ad, and captioned the video “My jeans are blee.” The post sparked mixed reactions from TikTok users, with critics arguing that Doja Cat’s reaction stemmed from “jealousy.”

Will Timothée Chalamet respond to the growing criticism over his comments?
