Wizards reveal Anthony Davis injury update after recent progress

Anthony Davis has been stuck on the sideline since Jan. 8 with ligament damage in his left hand, but his return to action might be getting closer.

The Washington Wizards big man has been working through his recovery, and the team finally shared some encouraging news about where things stand.

Washington picked up Davis midseason alongside Trae Young despite both dealing with injuries at the time. It was a move that made the franchise’s intentions pretty clear. This was not about salvaging the current season. With the team out of playoff contention and trying to hang onto its top-eight-protected 2026 first-round pick, the front office was building for the 2026-27 window.

Davis has logged 14 seasons between the New Orleans Pelicans, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks, putting up career averages of 24.0 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.3 blocks across 807 games. The 10-time All-Star and NBA champion is now inching toward his first appearance in a Wizards uniform.

Wizards offer update on Anthony Davis injury

The Wizards provided a fresh update Thursday regarding Davis and his ongoing hand injury. The team confirmed the veteran big man was re-evaluated earlier this week and has been cleared to begin limited, individual on-court basketball activities.

Washington added that Davis will undergo another evaluation in two weeks, when the organization expects to share its next official update on his recovery timeline.
