Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s lofty goal could help solve Yankees’ problem

New York Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. is looking to make history in 2026.

Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reported that Chisholm, 28, is aiming to join the 50 home runs/50 stolen bases club in 2026. When he was told that Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani is the only player to reach that threshold, Chisholm claimed that he would be the second player to do so.

Chisholm has been a solid power and speed threat throughout his major league career. He joined the 30/30 club in 2025, producing .242/.332/.481 batting line in his 531 plate appearances, hitting 31 homers and 15 doubles while stealing 31 bases.

Yankees may need career year from Jazz Chisholm Jr. to bolster lineup

A run at the 50/50 club would mean a significant increase in production. Chisholm has hit more than 24 home runs just once in his career. While Chisholm has been more of a consistent threat on the basepaths, he has yet to steal more than 40 bases in a season.

Such a performance could make a drastic difference in the Yankees’ postseason aspirations. They are essentially running the same team back as they had in 2025, despite protestations otherwise, with pitchers Ryan Weathers and Angel Chivilli as the most significant additions of the offseason. While outfielders Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger are one of the better 1-2 punches in the majors, the rest of the lineup is filled with question marks.

Chisholm has the talent to be the third piece in the Yankees lineup. If he can reach his lofty goals for 2026, the Yankees may end their championship drought in the upcoming season.
