In the middle of only his second season in the NBA, San Antonio Spurs guard Stephon Castle has already started establishing a unique legacy for himself.

Castle had the game of his life on Saturday night, making both franchise and league history all at once.

Leading the Spurs to a 138-125 win over their in-state rival Dallas Mavericks, Castle posted a box score that not even the great Tim Duncan was able to produce. Castle scored exactly 40 points while bringing down 12 rebounds and also dishing out 12 assists, giving him the Spurs’ first triple-double since David Robinson did it in 1993.

Stephon Castle understands the significance of matching David Robinson

“Just an honor to even be in that conversation with him (Robinson),” said Castle when asked about being the first to register a 40-point triple-double for the Spurs in 33 years.
