After failing to return to the World Series in 2025, the New York Yankees have had an offseason with far more rumors than actual news. But fans in the Bronx can breathe a sigh of relief, as Cody Bellinger and the Yankees finally agreed to a five-year, $162.5 million contract.

Bellinger is a veteran left-handed hitter who has proven he can succeed in a major market, spending his entire career in either Los Angeles, Chicago or New York, and with his 2020 World Series ring is a proven winner. In his first season in pinstripes last year, Bellinger hit .272 with 29 home runs and 98 RBIs while making appearances at every outfield position along with first base.

With big names like Pete Alonso, Kyle Tucker, and Kyle Schwarber off the free agent market, Bellinger became a must-retain in the eyes of many Yankees fans after a season that ended in the ALDS at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Wins Above Replacement (or WAR) measures how many wins a player has contributed compared to a replacement-level player, and Bellinger led all of Major League Baseball with 8.7 in his MVP-campaign of 2019. With that being said, can you name every player to lead MLB in WAR since the 1996 season?

    Good luck!
