Timothée Chalamet went all in for his sports drama “Marty Supreme,” performing a painful paddle scene himself after a prop broke, impressing co-star Kevin O’Leary and director Josh Safdie.

The film, following table tennis player Marty Mauser, has garnered critical acclaim and three Golden Globe nominations, with Chalamet also promoting it through a press tour and celebrity-backed merchandise.

Meanwhile, Timothée Chalamet recently squashed rumors that he is masked rapper EsDeeKid by appearing in a viral rap video with the musician.

Chalamet put in the work to create a memorable and slightly painful scene in his sports drama “Marty Supreme,” which hit theaters on Christmas Day.

The 29-year-old actor, who plays table tennis player Marty Mauser, faced an unexpected challenge when his co-star Kevin O’Leary’s character, businessman Milton Rockwell, delivered a paddle smack to his bare bottom during filming.

Originally, a stunt double and a fake paddle were planned for the sequence, but Chalamet insisted on doing it himself, even after the prop broke, and a real wooden paddle was used.

“Timmy walked in [and] said, ‘No, it’s got to be my a-s. I’m going to immortalize my a-s on film in perpetuity,” O’Leary told Us Weekly.

The painful scene eventually required multiple takes before director Josh Safdie called for a harder hit that would look realistic on camera.

“I wound up like a baseball bat and nailed his right cheek,” O’Leary recalled. “I think his eyeballs exploded out of his head, and that’s what you see.”

The scene itself is a turning point in the film: Mauser asks Rockwell to forgive him for missing certain ping pong matches, prompting O’Leary’s character to demand a paddle spanking.

O’Leary praised Chalamet’s reaction, calling him a “crazy trooper” and noting that the actor handled the intense comedic moment brilliantly. He added that Chalamet “deserves” an Oscar for his dedication.

“Marty Supreme” follows Mauser, a young man striving for greatness against all odds.

Chalamet’s commitment to the role includes an extensive press tour and merchandising campaign, with celebrities like Kylie Jenner, Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner, Kid Cudi, Susan Boyle, and Tom Brady spotted sporting “Marty Supreme” jackets.

Pop-up events and media appearances have also been part of Chalamet’s efforts to amplify the film, which he describes as an “original film about the pursuit of a dream.”

The film has already drawn critical acclaim, earning three Golden Globe nominations. Chalamet received a nod for Best Actor in a Motion Picture: Musical or Comedy, while “Marty Supreme” was also nominated for Best Picture.

The Actor Put Rumors To Rest Over Alleged Double Life As Masked Rapper EsDeeKid

Meanwhile, Chalamet has also put to rest long-running speculation that he is the mysterious masked rapper EsDeeKid. Rumors had swirled that the Oscar-nominated actor was leading a secret double life as the UK drill artist, who only ever reveals his eyes.

Fans pointed out a striking resemblance between Chalamet’s eyes and the rapper’s, prompting intrigue online. When the BBC asked Chalamet about the rumors earlier this week, he cryptically replied, “No comment… You’ll see, all in due time.”

Chalamet, who went by the hip-hop nickname Lil Timmy Tim in high school, finally quashed the conspiracies by appearing in a remix of EsDeeKid’s Top 40 hit “4Raws.”

In the video, Chalamet gave a nod to the speculation by showing only his eyes at first, mirroring the rapper’s signature style before pulling down a bandana and delivering bars: “It’s Timothée Chalamet chillin’, tryin’ to stack $100 million.”

Social Media Reacts To Timothée Chalamet’s Viral Music Video Collaboration With EsDeeKid

The rumors had gained traction while EsDeeKid climbed the UK Top 10 and Chalamet promoted his film “Marty Supreme.”

BBC Radio One host Greg James even asked him about the alleged connection, to which Chalamet teased, “All will be revealed in due time.”

Fans were delighted when the reveal dropped, with James later noting on social media that “all was revealed.” Chalamet also cleverly used the collaboration to give several shout-outs to “Marty Supreme.”

While the idea that Chalamet could be EsDeeKid was always far-fetched, especially given the rapper’s distinct Liverpudlian accent, the video quickly went viral.

Fans and fellow artists flooded social media with reactions: British rapper Central Cee responded with “Naaa” and crying-laughing emojis, Tinie Tempah wrote, “Hahha this is sickkk,” and US rapper Shaboozey declared, “This is going #1.”
