Why Taylor Swift’s Mom ‘Nudged’ Her Daughter Toward Travis Kelce

Taylor Swift‘s mom, Andrea Swift, was the ultimate wingwoman in her daughter’s relationship with football star Travis Kelce.

A new report suggests Andrea got “fed up” with her daughter’s past romantic partners and urged her to get with Kelce after seeing how family-oriented the NFL star was.

Taylor Swift has been open about her experiences in her previous relationships and has even written songs about them.

Taylor Swift’s relationship with Travis Kelce has blossomed finely into what it is now, but reports suggest it wouldn’t have taken off well without her mom’s input.

A source with insider knowledge spoke with Rob Shutter’s #Shuterscoop and disclosed that Andrea got fed up watching the “Bad Blood” hitmaker date losers before deciding to do something about it.

“Andrea was fed up,” the insider revealed. “She got involved because she couldn’t just watch Taylor get hurt anymore.”

It was then she “nudged” Taylor towards the Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end after seeing how much of a “green flag” he was.

“Andrea saw green flags immediately,” the source noted. “He was confident, grounded, and close to his family. That was enough for her to nudge Taylor in his direction.”

Kelce is set to become Andrea’s son-in-law as he’s engaged to be married to Taylor. According to reports, that’s something she’s seemingly proud of as she believes the Super Bowl champion isn’t anything like the singer’s exes, mainly because of the way he treats his mother.

“That sealed it,” the insider divulged. “Andrea believes [that] how a man treats his mother is a strong indicator of how he’ll treat a partner.”

Now that the “Blank Space” singer would likely be walking down the aisle, Andrea is proud of her effort, with the insider noting that she “feels vindicated,” and thinks Kelce is the “real deal.”

Taylor and Kelce started dating in the summer of 2023, with their relationship going public in September that year after she attended a Chiefs game to cheer him up.

Perhaps what warmed Andreas’ heart was the way Kelce tried to gain the attention of her daughter.

The football star revealed in an episode of his “New Heights” podcast that he went to one of Taylor’s shows and made a friendship bracelet with his phone number, hoping to give it to her, but he couldn’t.

“If you’re up on Taylor Swift concerts, there are friendship bracelets, and I received a bunch of them being there, but I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it,” he said, per Harper’s Bazaar.

The singer used to hold a special meet and greet session with fans, but during her record-breaking Eras World Tour, she couldn’t keep the routine after going hours performing at a stretch.

“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows, because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” Kelce said at the time, confessing that he was “a little butt-hurt” that he couldn’t chat with her.

“She doesn’t meet anybody—or at least she didn’t want to meet me, so I took it personally,” he joked.

Taylor can’t wait to be Mrs. Kelce and has already started putting things in place for the special day.

Reports suggest she has started building her bridesmaid team and asked pal Gigi Hadid to be her bridesmaid.

The supermodel is understood to be “thrilled” about it and accepted immediately as she “wasn’t expecting” the honor.

Taylor has also asked her close friend Selena Gomez to join the bridal train and plans to invite others in person, just so they know what they mean to her.

“Taylor wants to start the wedding process this way — building her bridesmaid group and getting everyone involved in the preparations, celebrations, and planning,” a source said.
