76ers look like they stand little chance against Celtics in Game 1 loss

Forward Jayson Tatum has reminded the Boston Celtics why they missed him dearly during last season’s NBA playoffs.

Before Boston’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday, ESPN cameras caught Celtics guard Derrick White saying he didn’t like playing three postseason games without Tatum last season. During the 2024-25 season, the wing tore his right Achilles tendon in a second-round series against the New York Knicks, which Boston lost in six games.

Tatum then told his teammate he wouldn’t need to worry about that because “he’s back.” The one-time champion, however, isn’t just back in the lineup. He’s back to dominating.

Jayson Tatum cooked 76ers in Game 1

Tatum made a statement in the first half of the first-round matchup against the 76ers, scoring 21 points, a season high (via Yahoo Sports). He added eight rebounds and four assists, which helped Boston race to a 64-46 lead.
