Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas are at the center of fresh dating buzz, but it is not just their rumored romance that has people talking; it is the 26-year age gap.

Some relationship experts say the difference might not matter if the foundation is sound, while others believe it could raise major compatibility issues for the pair. 

Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas first ignited romance rumors back in February and were seen again in July, intensifying speculation that their relationship may already be heating up. 

Relationship experts have been weighing in on what makes age-gap couples work, and the consensus is clear: it is less about the number and more about the foundation.

Amber Lee, CEO and co-founder of Select Date Society, explained that many successful couples build their bond on “shared values.” In her words:

“Age gaps often become irrelevant when both people are aligned on how they want to live, grow, and protect their personal space.”

Sara Sloan, a licensed marriage and family therapist, echoed the same thought. She stressed that values and lifestyle choices hold far more weight than age. 

“A couple that values privacy in their personal life is going to balance that with ambition in a very different way than someone who enjoys the paparazzi,” she explained.

The Daily Mail noted that both Sloan and Lee agree that compatibility grows from the life they create together, not the difference in their birth years.

While some experts see potential in Cruise and Armas’ rumored relationship, not everyone is convinced. Dr. Wendy Walsh, relationship expert at DatingAdvice.com, believes the pair may understand the pressures of each other’s careers, but she is not sure that will translate into a lasting romantic bond. 

Her main concern? In Hollywood, emotional intimacy often takes a backseat. “Narcissism is not only accepted in Hollywood, sadly, it is also often a requirement,” Walsh explained, adding:

“And people with narcissistic tendencies tend to be afraid of emotional intimacy. So in the world of Hollywood, similar lifestyles and secret-keeping matter more than anything.”

She also pointed out that family planning could add tension. She noted that de Armas may feel the weight of the ticking clock if motherhood is something she wants, which could complicate the dynamic with Cruise, who is older. 

While experts debate whether their 26-year age gap makes sense, Cruise and de Armas have moved on from the chatter. The Blast noted that the duo looked every bit connected during a July weekend trip that hinted strongly at a budding romance.

They reportedly spent time together in Vermont, where they took a scenic drive through a national park, browsed shops, and even grabbed ice cream. The most telling moment came when the two were spotted walking hand in hand through the streets.

Their outing did not stop there. Before the Vermont trip, Cruise and de Armas were seen at London’s Wembley Stadium for an Oasis concert. Cruise even appeared to shield de Armas with his hands when people passed too closely.

Cruise may be gearing up for one of the most significant steps of his life again, with talk of a proposal to de Armas already in the air. While whispers about an ironclad prenup continue to swirl, The Blast reported that the actress is not shaken by the speculation or by the 63-year-old’s history of high-profile breakups.

Insiders claim de Armas is fully aware of his past but refuses to let it shape her outlook. She reportedly finds it frustrating that so many people judge Cruise based on his exes and is determined to create a different experience with him.

Friends say the 37-year-old is “confident she’ll be able to keep him happier than they did.” The insider added that de Armas is fine with Cruise’s plan to have a contract in place, viewing it less as a barrier and more as a practical step to protect their future.
