Major road closures can put a spanner in your weekend plans at the best of times.

And on the M25, planned closures can cause havoc on one of the country’s busiest stretches of road.

But if you are planning on heading out and about on the roads this coming weekend here is all you need to know.

What parts of the M25 will be closed this weekend?

Certain junctions are set to be closed for major works to take place this weekend.

Junction 31 on the entry slip road will be closed from 10pm on Saturday, June 7 to 5am on Sunday, June 8 for QEII bridge maintenance. There will be a diversion in place.

Junction 27 to Junction 28: carriageway and the entry slip will be closed from Saturday at 10pm to Sunday at 5.30am. This is due to joint replacement works ongoing.

Junction 16 to M40 Westbound Junction 16: the road will be closed from 10pm on Saturday to 5am on Sunday for urgent safety fence repairs.

On Junction 14 the entry slip will be closed from 10pm Saturday until 4am on Sunday for carriageway repairs.

The exit slip on Junction 13 will also be closed from 10pm Saturday to 6am Sunday for carriageway repairs and again on Sunday from 10pm to Monday 5.30am.

What alternative routes can I take?

Diversions will be marked for anyone who needs to use any of these routes in the closed hours.

If you’re travelling to Gatwick and Heathrow airport this weekend and don’t want to face any delays, there are a number of train services you can take.

The Gatwick Express provides a non-stop train service between the airport and London Victoria, which departs every half hour and takes just 30 minutes.

There is also a Thameslink train which stops at central London stations including St Pancras, Blackfriars, London Bridge and Farringdon.

People travelling to Heathrow can take the Heathrow Express, a non-stop train service that runs to and from the airport and London Paddington. It runs every 15 minutes and takes just 15 minutes.

Heathrow is also on the Elizabeth Line and the Piccadilly line, stopping at terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5.
