Trump 2028? Third Term Project Explores Constitutional Amendment to Allow Trump’s 3rd Term | The Gateway Pundit

The Third Term Project represents a controversial push to amend the U.S. Constitution’s 22nd Amendment, which currently limits presidents to two terms, to allow President Donald Trump to seek a third term in office.

Spearheaded by figures like Representative Andy Ogles (R-TN), who introduced a resolution in January 2025, the initiative argues that Trump’s leadership is uniquely essential to “reverse the nation’s decay and restore America to greatness.”

The proposed amendment would adjust the Constitution to permit a president to be elected up to three times, provided their prior terms were non-consecutive, a condition tailored to Trump as the only living ex-president with non-consecutive terms.

Despite gaining traction at events like CPAC in February 2025, where groups like Republicans for National Renewal rallied support, the proposal faces steep hurdles: it requires a two-thirds majority in both the House and Senate, followed by ratification by 38 states—a near-impossible feat given the current political divide. Critics see it as a partisan stunt, while supporters frame it as a necessary extension of Trump’s agenda, highlighting a deep polarization in American politics.
