Jaylen Brown has taken a firm stance about his Celtics future

With the Giannis Antetokounmpo saga finally coming to an end, all the attention has shifted toward Jaylen Brown.

The former Finals MVP was reportedly the centerpiece of the Boston Celtics‘ offer to get the Greek Superstar.

Antetokounmpo was ultimately traded to the Miami Heat, but now that the cat was out of the bag, Brown’s relationship with the Celtics might take a big hit.

Nevertheless, ClutchPoints insider Brett Siegel reported that Brown has never approached the Celtics to request a trade.

Jaylen Brown hasn’t requested a trade

“However, league sources close to the situation told ClutchPoints that Brown has not approached any member of the front office or team president Brad Stevens to ask for a trade,” wrote Siegel.

While general manager Brad Stevens will continue to listen to offers and exhaust avenues to improve the roster, there aren’t many big names up for grabs.

The Celtics were willing to move on from Brown to land someone who would move the needle. But with no prime trade targets and no trade request, Brown may not be going anywhere.

“Now that the Bucks’ star was traded to Miami, and other players of his magnitude are not currently on the trade market, rival front-office personnel who spoke to ClutchPoints are downplaying the chances of him actually being traded this summer,” the report added.

At the end of the day, the NBA is a business first and foremost, and Browns seems to understand it pretty well.

He could have his own team elsewhere, but he’s been in Boston his entire career, and he’ll probably have a better shot at winning another championship with Joe Mazzulla’s team anyway.

As for the Celtics, there’s no point in trading him just for the sake of it.
