    Stranded Cruise Ship Battles Hantavirus Outbreak

    Government and health authorities have been scrambling to evacuate sick people on the MV Hondius, a vessel that has been moored in the Atlantic Ocean. The World Health Organization said the risk to the general public from the rare pathogen was low.

    I’m currently on board the MV Hondius, and what’s happening right now is very real for all of us here. We’re not just a story. We’re not just headlines. There’s a lot of uncertainty, and that’s the hardest part. All we want right now is to feel safe, to have clarity and to get home.

    Government and health authorities have been scrambling to evacuate sick people on the MV Hondius, a vessel that has been moored in the Atlantic Ocean. The World Health Organization said the risk to the general public from the rare pathogen was low.
