    The ‘A.L. & N.L. MVPs since 2000’ quiz

Team Venezuela had been to just one World Baseball Classic semifinal in the history of the tournament, with that appearance coming back in 2009.

Tonight, the 2026 squad has a chance to become the first Venezuelan squad to set a date with Team USA in their first-ever WBC championship game. After rallying to beat the defending-champion Japanese led by Shohei Ohtani, Venezuela faces an undefeated-Team Italy that knocked off the United States in pool play.

Ronald Acuna Jr. got the scoring started for Venezuela with a lead-off home run off of Yoshinobu Yamamoto while the hammer-blow came from Wilyer Abreu. The 26 year old blasted a three-run home run in the sixth-inning to turn a 5-4 deficit into a 7-5 lead they wouldn’t relinquish. If they’re able to fend off the Italians, Venezuela will guarantee their best-ever finish at the World Baseball Classic regardless of the result against Team USA.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. When healthy, Acuna Jr. has been one of the best players in Major League Baseball since being called up to the Braves in 2018. With that being said, can you name the American and National League MVPs since 2000?

    Good luck!
