The second day of the NFL’s legal tampering period continued on Tuesday, and while it was far quieter than the first day in terms of blockbuster agreements, it still proved to be a pivotal day as the Baltimore Ravens
backed out of the Maxx Crosby trade. That leaves their offseason with some big question marks.
Winner: Romeo Doubs
Doubs has never caught more than 60 passes in a season or recorded more than 724 yards, but that did not stop him from landing a big contract agreement with the New England Patriots on Tuesday. When it becomes official, it will be a four-year, $80 million contract to play for the reigning AFC champions and with a young franchise quarterback in Drake Maye. It seems like a great opportunity for a breakout year.
Loser: Baltimore Ravens offseason
The Ravens lost their starting center, two tight ends and put all of the eggs in their offseason basket (and their pass-rushing basket) in the Crosby trade. Then it fell apart because Crosby did not pass his physical. While they do get their first-round picks back, they still have to figure out a way to fix one of the league’s worst pass rushes.
It might be all-or-nothing on Trey Hendrickson.
The Browns have made a serious effort to improve their offensive line this offseason, and made a couple of big moves on Tuesday. Along with re-signing veteran Teven Jenkins, they also agreed to a deal with recently released Packers offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins. Those moves go along with the previous agreement for Zion Johnson and the trade for Tytus Howard.
While it was almost certainly difficult for the Raiders to try to trade their leader and best player, getting two first-round picks, including the No. 14 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, would have been a potential franchise-changer in the long run. Now they do not have those picks and still have to find a way to deal with the Crosby situation. They already agreed to major contracts in the aftermath of the trade and may have to eventually part ways with Crosby anyway.
When and if they do, it will not bring them back anything close to the same potential return.
After intercepting zero passes during the entirety of the 2025 season, the Jets have made a serious effort to change that this offseason. They made another big agreement on Tuesday, agreeing to terms with Nahshon Wright. Wright had five more interceptions by himself than the entire Jets team did in 2025. Because he had five of them.
Loser: Teams still waiting to get involved
The Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks specifically. Both teams were among the NFL’s final four, with the Seahawks winning the Super Bowl, so it is not like they have a ton of needs on their rosters. But they are two of the teams that have not really reached any agreements with potential free agents or made any trades, while the Seahawks have seen several key players reach agreements with other teams during the tampering period. There are not many big-time free agents still searching for new teams.
