Bam Adebayo beat his career-high in points Tuesday night, and it only took him 23 minutes. Then he finished with the second-highest scoring mark in NBA history.

The Miami Heat center scored 43 points in the first half of the Heat’s 150-129 win over the Washington Wizards and finished with 83.

Bam Adebayo shattered Miami Heat franchise records

Before Tuesday, the Heat’s highest-scoring quarter belonged to LeBron James, with 25 points. Adebayo had 31 in the first quarter, which tied the previous Heat record for points in an entire half.

Adebayo shot 13-of-24 from the field before halftime, which tied his most made baskets for a game, and shot 5-of-11 from three-point range, just one short of his career-high for a game. (Adebayo hit his seventh early in the fourth quarter.) He broke the franchise record for points in a game (held by James with 61) with a dunk at the end of the third quarter, which tied Kobe Bryant for most points through three quarters in the last 30 seasons (when the NBA began keeping play-by-play data).
