Dolphins reportedly set a trade price for Jaylen Waddle

The Miami Dolphins moved on from big names like Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb, and they will most likely have a new quarterback on the field next season.

With a new general manager and head coach, it looks like the team might go through a full-scale rebuild sooner rather than later.

That’s why teams looking for a wide receiver might feel like Jaylen Waddle can be had at the right price.

According to 247Sports’ Easton Butler, the Dolphins have shut down all inquiries about Waddle. Nevertheless, they might change their stance about a potential trade if a team is willing to give up a first-round selection.

Miami Dolphins want a first-round pick for Jaylen Waddle

“The Dolphins are receiving trade interest for WR Jaylen Waddle, with all attempts being shut down at the moment,” Butler wrote on X. “A source said they would need a 1st to consider any conversation.”

Waddle has taken a leap as the Dolphins’ primary pass catcher, even ahead of the aforementioned Hill, who has struggled with inconsistency in recent years and suffered a season-ending injury last season.

Per Pro Football Reference, he hauled in 64 catches on 199 targets for 910 yards and six touchdowns last season, and he has three seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards.

That said, the Buffalo Bills are reportedly sending a second-round pick to the Chicago Bears for DJ Moore, who’s got a similar contract, has been more durable and is just one year older than Waddle.

As talented as the Alabama product is, multiple teams might rather take a chance on one of this year’s many first-round-caliber wide receivers and have a cost-controlled option instead of overpaying for an injury-prone player like Waddle.
