Bad Bunny‘s Super Bowl Halftime Show not only delivered a record-breaking spectacle on stage but also shattered digital viewership numbers.

The 31-year-old superstar continues to give the public plenty to talk about, dominating headlines during his performance and long after the stage lights fade.

While critics dissect his lyrics and stage delivery, he remains unfazed, pressing forward as he prepares to take on a new film role.

Bad Bunny Sets Record for Most-Watched Super Bowl Halftime Show

In an announcement made by Roc Nation on X, it was revealed that the global superstar made a striking impression with his 2026 halftime performance, breaking an all-time record.

The show garnered 4.175 billion views across global and US broadcast, YouTube, and digital properties within 24 hours — a feat never achieved before.

The feat may not come as a surprise to many. The high-energy spectacle featured celebrity cameos from Cardi B, Ricky Martin, and Lady Gaga, among others. In a moment that stunned audiences, he even incorporated a real-life wedding ceremony between songs, elevating the performance beyond a typical halftime set.

Following the announcement, fans quickly flooded social media with reactions. One user wrote, “But MAGA said nobody was going to watch it. What happened???”

Another celebrated the milestone, adding, “This is why music has no borders. Representation, energy, and pure talent. ¡Vamos!”

Others insisted the global turnout was inevitable. “We ain’t surprised. The world was obviously watching the most global Super Bowl ever!” one fan commented. Another joked, “A few hundred more than Kid Rock’s MAGA halftime show.”

Still, skeptics questioned the figures, with one claiming, “Numbers dramatically exaggerated by Jay Z and RocNation, who is shocked by this,” while another added, “You can make up any number you want and pretend it’s real. No one is buying it.”

Beyond viewership numbers, the performance reportedly made an unexpected impact on everyday life.

According to The Blast, NYC Water shared data revealing how glued viewers were to their screens during the set, showing a sharp contrast between bathroom usage during the show and immediately afterward.

“NYC saw a significant reduction in water usage throughout the five boroughs during the Super Bowl’s #BadBunny halftime show yesterday,” the agency wrote, explaining that after the performance ended, there was a spike in usage of about 761,719 toilets.

The moment further underscored how captivated audiences were, staying put until the final note before making a move.

The halftime spectacle proved to be more than just a musical milestone. It also marked a significant win for deaf advocacy.

Bad Bunny, who previously made history as the first predominantly Spanish-language headliner, reached another breakthrough when a Puerto Rican Sign Language (LSPR) interpreter provided access to the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, directly honoring the linguistic rights of Puerto Rico’s Deaf population.

As reported by The Blast, American Sign Language (ASL) has long been the standard at major events. However, for the 220,000 deaf or hard-of-hearing residents of Puerto Rico, ASL is not always used.

Linguistic experts have categorized LSPR as an endangered language, making advocacy for its inclusion a fight for cultural preservation. Seeing it performed on one of the world’s biggest stages highlighted the importance of maintaining that heritage.

Despite the accolades, backlash followed swiftly from conservative figures. A Republican congressman reportedly called for a formal congressional inquiry into the NFL and NBC regarding their involvement in the performance.

He alleged that the organizations had prior knowledge of what he described as an “indecent broadcast.”

According to The Blast, he argued that America’s culture “will not be mocked without consequences,” claiming children were exposed to “explicit displays of gay sexual acts, women gyrating provocatively, and Bad Bunny shamelessly grabbing his crotch while dry-humping the air.”

He further criticized the rapper’s lyrics, alleging they promoted immoral behavior and should not have aired on national television.

Amid the controversy, Bad Bunny appears focused on growth rather than noise. The superstar is set to take on his first leading role in a feature film, “Porto Rico,” the directorial debut of fellow Puerto Rican artist Residente.

The historical drama will see Bad Bunny step into the lead role alongside Hollywood heavyweights such as Edward Norton, Javier Bardem, and Viggo Mortensen.

As The Blast reported, both Bad Bunny and Residente share a fierce dedication to Puerto Rico and the causes they champion, making the collaboration a culturally resonant one.
