Sir Idris Elba may be one of Hollywood’s most admired leading men, but his daughter Isan Elba is making it clear she’s carving her own path and speaking her mind while she’s at it.

The 24-year-old recently shocked fans after revealing she has repeatedly turned down invitations to appear on “Love Island,” slamming the show in a fiery rant.

From calling herself a “man hater” to branding the series a “humiliation ritual,” Isan didn’t hold back.

Idris Elba’s daughter revealed she has been approached multiple times by producers of the hit ITV2 dating show, and each time, she has declined. According to Isan, the offers have been consistent.

“For the past few years without fail, I have been invited to go on Love Island,” she shared per the Daily Mail.

The actress even claimed producers sweetened the deal by offering her a fast track through the audition process.

She revealed, “They have even offered for me to skip the line and go straight to the final interview. That is exactly why I would never go on Love Island.”

Isan, who Idris shares with his ex-wife, make-up artist Hanne Norgaard, didn’t mince words about why the format doesn’t appeal to her. “Those challenges are a humiliation ritual,” she stated.

The “Crimson Ties” star went further, noting that she would never go naked on live TV or make out with multiple people in front of millions of viewers.

She also admitted, “I am too awkward to kiss somebody on camera, let alone give lap dances.”

For her, the exposure and the vulnerability simply aren’t worth it.

If her first reason wasn’t bold enough, Idris Elba’s daughter doubled down with another confession.

“Number two, I’m a man hater,” she said candidly. She explained that the dating show’s dynamic wouldn’t suit her personality at all.

According to her, she wouldn’t be able to put up with the “BS” that men do on the show. Isan made it clear she knows herself well enough to recognize that the chaos would not end well.

“It takes a certain type of personality to go on that show,” she said, suggesting she simply isn’t built for reality TV romance.

While some fans were shocked by her blunt language, others applauded her honesty.

Reality TV may not be her thing, but Isan has her sights set firmly on the entertainment industry.

In a 2023 interview with Tatler, she revealed that she wants to become a producer, inspired by years spent around film sets with her father.

“I want to be a producer. I grew up on film sets and I’ve been around that my entire life so it was kind of a no-brainer,” she explained.

Though she once considered becoming a veterinarian, she said watching her parents’ careers shifted her focus.

“When I was much younger I thought I wanted to be a veterinarian, but once I realised what my parents did – and you know, they are my idols – I realised I want to be in the film industry,” she shared.

Asked about her father being named People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” in 2018, she joked, calling it “cringe.”

Isan also noted that she tried turning a blind eye, but sometimes, she would wake up from nightmares, thinking about it.

Idris Once Turned Down His Daughter For A Movie Role

Isan’s ambitions haven’t always come without disappointment. Idris Elba previously revealed that his daughter auditioned for a role in his film “Beast,” where she would have played his on-screen daughter. Ultimately, she didn’t land the part.

Speaking about the decision during an appearance on “The Breakfast Club,” the 53-year-old admitted, per Business Insider, “And you know, it came down to chemistry in the end. You know, my daughter, she was great, but the relationship in the film and the relationship with my daughter was — the chemistry wasn’t right for film, weirdly enough.”

He said Isan didn’t talk to him for about three weeks after learning she didn’t get the role.

Producer Will Packer was the one who delivered the news. He recalled, “I called and talked to her, ‘cause I’ve known her for a very long time … I’m like ‘Uncle Will.’’”

Despite the setback, Idris said he was firm during the audition process, telling her, “Listen, at the end of the day we’re going to make the best decision for the movie. I trust you, Will, trust the director.”

Though tensions were high at first, Idris later shared that his daughter ultimately handled the rejection maturely.

According to him, she was “gracious” about it, adding that he was proud she still came to the premiere despite not landing the role.

Idris may not have worked with his daughter, but he has worked with his wife, Sabrina Elba.

In 2023, Sabrina revealed that working with her husband on their joint ventures, especially their skincare brand S’ABLE Labs, had been rewarding but challenging.

According to a report from The Blast, she described the experience as a “big learning curve.”

The 36-year-old entrepreneur explained that while blending business and marriage wasn’t always easy, she and Idris had found ways to work together that helped them balance creative collaboration with their personal lives.

She said they began a podcast to learn how other couples navigate work together, and that setting correct boundaries, like separating work hours from date nights, had been essential to their success.

Sabrina added that although it “wasn’t a perfect tie-in” at first, she couldn’t imagine doing it with anyone else.
