New England Patriots legend Tom Brady got himself into dangerous territory ahead of Super Bowl LX.
In the latest edition of his “Let’s Go!” podcast, the seven-time Super Bowl champion tried to take the high road while talking about the big game.
He claimed that he doesn’t “have a dog in the fight” and hoped that the best team won, and while he then went on to praise head coach Mike Vrabel and say he was happy for the Patriots, it was too late already.
The backlash was instant, and it didn’t come only from fans, as reported by Karen Guregian of MassLive. Even Patriots star linebacker Robert Spillane had something to say.

“Robert Spillane said ‘personally it makes me sick’ hearing Tom Brady say he doesn’t have a dog in the fight,” Guregian wrote on X.
Notably, he’s not the only current or former Patriot to take issue with Brady’s statement. Ironically, Spillane’s former team might be the main reason why Brady said what he said.
He’s now a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. So, as much as everybody knows his history with the Patriots, and even though he’s probably (not so) secretly rooting for them, he can’t just go out and say it.
He’s also working as an analyst for FOX, so perhaps going out of his way to talk about how much he wants a cerrtain team to win might not look that professional.
Brady led the Patriots to nine Super Bowls and won six. He’s done more for that organization than any person has or likely ever will. So, even if he didn’t want them to win because of his legacy or whatnot, he should’ve won some goodwill and the benefit of the doubt by now.
