The ‘One-and-done NFL head coaches’ quiz

For the third season in a row, the Las Vegas Raiders are in search of a new head coach. After bringing in Pete Carroll to replace Antonio Pierce (also fired after his first full season), the Raiders went just 3-14 and landed the first-overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Carroll hasn’t had more than a nine-win season since going 12-4 with the Seahawks in 2020 and at 74 years old, was unlikely to be a long-term solution for the Raiders sideline. But after a disastrous season, general manager John Spytek and Tom Brady will work together to “guide football decisions with a shared focus on leadership, culture, and alignment with the organization’s long-term goals,” said principal owner Mark Davis in a statement.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Carroll became the 20th head coach since 2000 to be fired after a season or less at the helm. How many of those coaches can you name in five minutes?

    Good luck!
