Micah Parsons calls out Jerry Jones, Cowboys for slander

“Y’all want me to feel bad? Jerry Jones slandered my name to Cowboys media and national media for months,” Parsons said. “So I do think I can react to comment if I want to!”

After a long, soap opera-esque feud with Jones, Parsons was traded to Green Bay on Aug. 28. Parsons tore his ACL against the Denver Broncos on Dec. 14, but the Packers will, at least, make the NFC playoff field, unlike Parsons’ former team.

The feud between Jones and Parsons featured several examples of the former appearing to intentionally disrespect the latter.

Shortly after the trade involving Parsons was announced, Jones repeatedly mispronounced Parsons’ first name as “Michael” rather than Micah during a news conference. He also appeared to take a swing at the back injury that kept Parsons out of on-field drills during training camp, saying in an interview after Week 1, “From what I saw, I thought he was able to get in there and not have any influence from his back. I say that with a straight face, I do.”

Jones also infamously accused Parsons of going back on a handshake agreement that the owner had allegedly made with the star pass-rusher.

“I bought the Dallas Cowboys with a handshake,” Jones said in August.

Then in September, Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta opened up about the failed contract talks, saying that the Cowboys refused to negotiate.

After the trade, Jones also claimed the Cowboys were better off with Kenny Clark, who was acquired in the trade that sent Parsons to Green Bay.

“The most important thing is we really wanted to stop the run,” Jones said in August. “And Micah’s a wonderful football player, we think this gives us a better chance to stop the run.”

Parsons likely saw those comments, and giving how the Cowboys defense has turned out, he’s getting the last laugh.

Parsons also took exception to a post regarding former Cowboys DB Trevon Diggs’ downturn in performance that called Diggs “the worst corner in the league right now.” Diggs was claimed by the Packers on Wednesday.
