Kris Jennerhas never followed the usual rulebook when it comes to family, fame, or the complicated romantic histories her daughters leave behind.

While most parents distance themselves from an ex the moment a breakup turns messy, Kris seems to keep the door open, the lights on, and the dinner table set.

Now, she’s finally explaining why, and her answer reveals a surprisingly emotional philosophy.

For years, fans have watched Kris Jenner remain surprisingly close to the men who once dated or married her daughters, even when those relationships crashed and burned in the public eye.

She once maintained contact with Kanye West during his most chaotic moments, though that shifted in 2020 after he referred to her as “Kris Jong-un.”

That jab, referencing North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un, seemed to freeze whatever friendship remained.

However, other exes remain firmly in Kris’s circle.

She frequently appears at events with Khloé Kardashian’s former partner Tristan Thompson, and has long been one of the biggest supporters of Kourtney Kardashian’s ex Scott Disick, so much so that he still appears on “The Kardashians.”

“I fall in love with people, have lives and years spent with their partners or their boyfriends or their husbands,” she said per the Daily Mail, reflecting on decades of relationships built around holidays, milestones, and the growing Kardashian clan.

She continued, “And I have all these memories and travels and Christmas morning celebrations and birthdays and all the fun, the laughter, the joys, the tears, the babies.”

For Kris, the bond endures far beyond the romance. She noted, “These are, in most cases, the fathers of my grandchildren. And I love these men, and that love doesn’t go away when we experience really challenging times with them. It just doesn’t turn off like that for me.”

She even added that the exes know “they can always come to me” when they need help, a sentiment that surprises fans who have seen the most dramatic ups and downs play out on television.

Another key reason Kris Jenner stays close with the exes is her grandkids.

She asked a pointed question during the interview: “What will my grandkids think 20 years from now if their grandmother treated their dad poorly?”

She expanded on the thought, saying, “Or I wasn’t loving and kind and compassionate and forgiving? So I teach my kids forgiveness. It’s one of the biggest lessons that I can teach them, to forgive somebody who’s treated you badly and move on.”

Kris made it clear she is well aware that these men have “treated [her daughters] badly” in the past.

Still, she insists that the family has handled those issues privately.

“We don’t need to talk about these things anymore. It’s been done. It’s dealt with,” Kris said. “We’ve talked about it. We all know what’s happened. We’ve had it on the show, or we’ve had it in our lives. Now it’s time to grow the f-ck up, be mature. I love who I’ve loved, and I don’t like what they’ve done. No, I don’t. But it doesn’t make the love get any less overnight.”

Kris Jenner’s approach becomes even more interesting when one revisits the history.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West finalized their divorce in 2022 after highly publicized disputes over parenting and finances.

Kim even accused the rapper of an “obsession with trying to control and manipulate our situation.”

The two still co-parent their four children: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.

Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson have endured breakup after breakup following public cheating scandals, including one infamously involving Kylie Jenner’s then-best friend Jordyn Woods.

Despite that turmoil, they continue to raise their children, True and Tatum, together.

Kourtney Kardashian’s relationship with Scott Disick spanned nearly a decade, beginning in 2006 and ending in 2015. They share Mason, Penelope, and Reign.

Their bond has remained unusually close, with Kourtney once saying on “KUWTK,” “Scott and I, we’re going to be in each other’s lives forever. We are soulmates, in a sense. No matter what, whether we’re ever together or not.”

Kris has echoed the sentiment herself.

“I love Scott and we all love Scott,” she said after his car crash. “And Scott will always be a part of our family. He’s the father of my grandchildren, and he’s just … my kid.”
